Who we are

Klakko (klakko.app) is a web app that helps founders and business owners turn what they say on camera into finished short videos, carousels and posts. In this policy, “Klakko”, “we” and “us” mean Klakko, run by [Legal entity or proprietor name: to be added], [Registered address, India: to be added]. We are the “data controller” for the personal information described here.

Questions, or a request about your data? Email hello@klakko.app.

What we collect

If you join the waitlist

Your email address, the time you signed up and which form you used. To limit spam we also keep a one-way, salted scramble (a hash) of your connection address; we don’t store the address itself and can’t turn the scramble back into one. We don’t send marketing email to waitlist addresses beyond Klakko access updates.

If you have an account

  • Account and profile: your email, name, time zone, and what you tell us about you and your business (what you do, your audience, goals, tone, brand details, past content you share with us).
  • Recordings: the video and audio you record in Klakko (from your laptop camera and microphone, and from a phone used as a second camera), screen recordings and photos you add, and the questions and answers from your sessions.
  • Transcripts and what we learn from them: the text of what you said, with word timings, and notes Klakko keeps about your business and style so your next plan fits you.
  • Generated content: plans, scripts, reels, clips, carousels, post text, thumbnails, captions, and the edits and choices you make to them.
  • Likeness photos (only if you turn this on): if you give consent for AI-made images of yourself (for example, thumbnails), the reference photos you choose, and a record of your consent.
  • Usage and billing: your plan, credits and what used them, subscription status, and the customer and subscription IDs from our payment provider. We never see or store your full card number; that goes straight to Dodo Payments.
  • Technical information: basic logs from our hosting and security tooling (such as IP address, browser and device type, pages and actions, errors), and a record of each AI request (which task, how long, how much it cost, whether it worked).
  • Messages: anything you email us.

Recordings of your face and voice can be sensitive. We use them only to run Klakko for you, as described below. If you record other people (a guest, a team member, a customer), you need their permission first; see our Terms.

How we use it

  • To create your account, sign you in with an emailed link, and run the product: plan your week, guide your recording, transcribe, edit and render your content, and store it for you.
  • To take payment and manage your plan and credits (through Dodo Payments).
  • To email you about your account and your work: sign-in links, reminders for sessions you schedule, your weekly plan, when something is ready or failed. You can switch the optional emails off in Settings.
  • To answer your messages and give support.
  • To keep Klakko secure, prevent abuse and fraud, fix problems and understand cost and reliability.
  • To improve the product using aggregate usage and the technical logs above. We don’t sell your personal information and we don’t show advertising.

We don’t use your recordings or content to train AI models of our own. We use what you give us to personalise your results (your style, your business, your earlier talks), not anyone else’s.

Our legal bases (where laws like the EU/UK GDPR apply): to perform our contract with you (running your account and the service); our legitimate interests (security, preventing abuse, improving the product); your consent (for example, AI images of your likeness, browser notifications, and any optional emails); and legal obligations (such as tax records). In India we rely on your consent and on the legitimate uses the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 allows.

AI processing

Klakko works by sending your recordings and text to AI providers. In short: audio goes to a speech provider so it can be turned into text (and, in live interview mode, so an AI can listen and talk with you); text goes to a language model so it can plan, write and choose the best takes; and, if you opt in, photos go to an image model. The finished videos themselves are put together by Klakko’s own rendering, not by an AI provider.

  • Anthropic (Claude): reads transcripts, your profile and instructions to plan, write, pick clips and answer your edit requests. Anthropic says that, by default, it does not use inputs or outputs from its commercial API to train its models, and that it deletes API inputs and outputs from its systems within 30 days (longer only in cases such as legal or safety requirements).
  • Deepgram: turns your speech into text, and powers the live voice interviewer (which uses Claude models through Deepgram’s voice agent). Deepgram runs a voluntary Model Improvement Partnership Program under which audio sent to its API can be used to improve its speech models unless a request opts out. If you would rather your audio isn’t used that way, email us and we’ll sort it out before you record.
  • OpenAI (images), only if you opt in: if you consent to AI images of yourself, your chosen reference photos and a text description are sent to OpenAI’s image model to make scenes such as thumbnails. OpenAI says data sent to its API is not used to train its models by default, and that its abuse-monitoring logs are kept for up to 30 days unless the law requires longer.
  • ElevenLabs, only if enabled: an alternative speech provider we can switch to for the live voice interviewer or transcription. If we do, your audio is handled under ElevenLabs’ terms and we’ll keep this policy accurate.

We chose providers whose business terms say your data isn’t used to train their general models; those terms can change, so check their own policies if it matters to you. AI makes mistakes: see the AI section of our Terms.

Who else handles your data

We use these companies (“processors”) to run Klakko. They may only use your data to provide their service to us.

Dodo PaymentsPayments, invoices and tax, as merchant of recordName, email, billing details and payment information you give at checkout

Dodo Payments is the seller of record for subscriptions. It collects your payment details itself and uses them under its own privacy policy; we receive only what we need to run your plan (your customer and subscription IDs, plan and status).

We don’t sell your personal information. We may share it if the law requires, to protect people or our rights, or if Klakko is sold or merged (we would tell you first). Nothing you record is made public; finished videos and recordings are private to your account unless you download and share them yourself. A small number of people at Klakko can access account data when it’s needed to fix a problem, keep the service safe, or help when you ask for support. Klakko doesn’t post to your social accounts for you.

Where your data goes

Klakko is run from India, and our providers handle data in the United States and other countries, which may have different data-protection laws from yours. Where the law requires it, we rely on safeguards such as the standard contractual clauses in our providers’ data-processing terms.

How long we keep it

  • Your account, recordings, transcripts and content: for as long as you have an account, so your library is there when you come back. You can delete a talk yourself at any time; that permanently removes its recordings, clips, reels, carousels and posts from Klakko. We don’t currently delete anything automatically on a timer.
  • When you close your account: we delete your account data, recordings and content within 30 days, except what we must keep by law (below). Copies in backups roll off within a further 14 days.
  • Billing records: we keep invoices and payment records for as long as tax and accounting law requires (several years). Dodo Payments keeps its own records.
  • Waitlist emails: until Klakko opens to you, or until you ask us to remove yours.
  • Technical logs and AI request records: kept for a limited time to run and secure the service, then deleted or reduced to totals.
  • AI providers: kept for the periods in the AI section above, and then deleted by them.

Your choices and rights

You can ask us to:

  • show you what we hold about you and give you a copy (including your recordings, transcripts and content, in common file formats);
  • correct what’s wrong;
  • delete your data or close your account;
  • stop using your data for something that relies on your consent, or object to a use based on our legitimate interests;
  • withdraw consent at any time (for example, AI images of your likeness, or optional emails), without affecting what we did before.

Much of this you can do yourself: download your finished videos, delete talks and recordings in the app, switch emails off in Settings, and close your account from Settings. For anything else, or if something doesn’t work, email hello@klakko.app. We’ll answer within 30 days and may need to check it’s really you.

Depending on where you live, you may have more rights under laws such as India’s Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 (including a right to nominate someone to act for you), the EU and UK GDPR (including the right to complain to your data-protection authority) or California’s CCPA/CPRA (we don’t “sell” or “share” personal information for advertising). If you’re not happy with how we handled a request, tell us first so we can put it right.

Grievance contact: [Name: to be added], Grievance Officer (privacy and content complaints), hello@klakko.app.

Cookies and similar technology

Klakko uses only what it needs to work. We don’t use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we don’t add third-party trackers to our pages.

  • Sign-in cookies keep you signed in. They’re essential, set by our sign-in provider (Supabase), and removed when you sign out or they expire.
  • Short-lived cookies remember small things for a few seconds to a week, such as a “your credits are back” note, or that you chose to catch up later.
  • Local storage on your device remembers preferences like your grid or list view, camera choices and whether you asked for a “ready” notification.
  • Your camera and microphone are used only while you record or run a camera check, and only after your browser asks and you allow it. You can switch them off in your browser at any time.

Because these are essential, we don’t show a cookie banner. If we later add privacy-friendly analytics, we’ll say so here first.

Keeping it safe

Your recordings and outputs are private to your account. Data is encrypted in transit; access to the database and storage is restricted by account, and keys are kept out of the browser. No system is perfectly secure, so please use a mailbox you protect, and tell us straight away at hello@klakko.app if you think someone else has access to your account. If we learn of a breach that affects you, we’ll tell you and the authorities as the law requires.

Children

Klakko is for adults running a business. You must be 18 or older to use it. We don’t knowingly collect information from anyone under 18; if you think we have, email us and we’ll delete it.

Changes to this policy

We’ll update this page when Klakko or the law changes, and change the “last updated” date at the top. If a change matters (a new provider handling your recordings, or a new use of your data), we’ll tell you by email or in the app before it applies to you.
